The Color of Wine and How to Check If It’s Still Good to Drink

Do you enjoy drinking wine, but don’t know how to choose the right one? Recently I have been thinking that although I enjoy an occasional glass of wine, I wouldn’t consider myself a wine connoisseur. But I’ve done some research and developed a handy guide.

Analyzing the color of wine

The above guide covers a variety of wines, including white, rosé, and reds. For example, you can deduce that a red wine that is purplish-blue will be a very young. Also shades of yellow in a rosé may be a sign the wine is far too old to drink.

The Health Benefits of Drinking Wine

According to findings published in the January 2000 issue of European Heart Journal, wine appears to dilate arteries and increase blood flow, thus lowering the risk of the kind of clots that cut off blood supply and damage heart muscles. Substances in wine called ‘phenols’ appear to help prevent the bad cholesterol from causing injury (WebMD.com).
