Best Burger in Jacksonville

Today’s review is on a burger joint my husband and I discovered a couple years ago called Colonel Mustard’s Phabulous Phat Burgers.

Col Mustard’s is located on 3rd street in a small plaza. The shop is small, but roomy enough for 50-75 people.

Ruben had The Jaguar Special, which has bacon, ham, fried onions, 1000 island dressing, and swiss cheese on a kaiser roll.

I had The Chop, fried onions, swiss, lettuce, tomato, and mayo on kaiser roll. Below you can see its thickness and that’s just their regular sized burger!

The good thing about the burgers here, is they are cooked in a fashion of tradition. And their traditions are working! The meat it nicely marked on the outside, but tender on the inside.

I don’t know about you, but a burger for me isn’t great without it being paired with great fries and Colonel Mustard’s has yummy fries. Thin, but not too thin so they are crunchy on the outside and perfect on the inside. I strongly suggest trying their fries seasoned and with cheese sauce.

Another note about this place is that they serve soft drinks with cubed ice (the tiny kind that seems crushed). I LOVE this kind of ice because it is soft to chew – yes I know this is terrible for my teeth, but hey it’s not like we are in Jacksonville often.

Before heading over it would be a good idea to read the menu online. There are wacky names for a long list of burgers, which vary in many combinations of toppings.

Do you know of a burger place that might compare to Colonel Mustard’s Phat?
