I’ve been such a bad girl lately with sweets. I have so many weak moments and switching my birth control hasn’t helped (sidenote: if that’s TMI then just scroll down to the recipe my love). So I’ve been trying to redirect my cravings and using more natural sugars before I even consider cutting sugar all the way. Continue reading
A few years ago, when I worked for a telecommunications company located just outside of College Park, I really loved to grab lunch at a little place called Roly Poly. This will sound way cheesy, but it was there that I fell in love with the #30 (also known as their Basil Cashew Chicken salad cold rolled sandwich).
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again; chicken is a very versatile protein that can be made in many ways. Continue reading
You know how there are people out there that don’t do much to try and impress others? They just do their own thing, don’t make a big fuss about themselves, and somehow they are well liked by their neighbors and end up with a lot of friends without really trying! Well the place I’m reviewing today, Mama B’s Giant Subs, is a lot like that. Continue reading
As someone who makes pretty amazing ribs myself, I am quite the picky rib eater at restaurants.
Now that I am eating solid foods again, I’m glad I can use my favorite salad packing bowl.
The (green) insert doubles as an ice pack that keeps everything inside cold. There is also a container that fits in the center for my dressing.

The Chile Cashews are so good. I roasted these for about 8 minutes and then tossed them in a mixture of salt, pepper, Chile flakes, and vegetable oil.
…I think I might need to start making recipe cards for download on here for you.

This is one of those posts I for some reason overlook because I think I’ve done it before. I would say we eat at Chili’s semi-regularly, which for us is at least 6 times a year. It’s one of those fun places where you always know what you want and 2 for 1 specials never seem to end. I have never had an issue with my food at this restaurant and I think that is the main reason we keep coming back to this franchise.
If you’ve never been I would suggest going and trying the $20 Dinner for Two special (a great way to sample their food).
I had a couple beers (frosty mugs were the best part) and wanted to have some salty food with it so I opted for the Fried Shrimp, which is served with french fries and cole slaw (quite good, actually).
Ruben had Bacon Ranch Quesadillas (Bacon + Ranch are two of his favorite things to put in food so he was in heaven).
Now, just for fun, I am putting the images from their online menu of the items we ordered. The difference for me was my basket didn’t seem as full and the difference for Ruben’s food was the lack of a pretty arrangement. At least on Ruben’s part I know he would have preferred not to have the guacamole.
The Yuengling helped to put me down for a much needed nap – all the way to Orlando.

Every single time I go to Firehouse Subs I place the same order. Two years ago, I had noted that this was my favorite sub place and I (for some odd reason) still had not made a blog post about it (until now).
Firehouse Subs is a franchise I discovered two or three years ago in Orlando and ever since I’ve favored it among the rest. It was here that I was introduced to my favorite hot sauce called “Burnin’ Love” after Elvis’ song released in 1972. I keep a bottle at home and add to my homemade sandwiches, rice and beans, chicken, and more. There are plenty of others to choose from – the counter has about fifty options for sauce and most are also available for sale. I try to bring mine when we go because it is not always available.
You may not know this but I LOVE listening to Elvis; “Love me tender” is one of my favorite songs to set on my phone’s alarm clock. (Photo credit hotsauceworld.com).
The YouTube video of this song is below.
My sandwich always tastes the same. This franchise has it right in that, no matter where you go, your favorite will stay your favorite because it doesn’t change. The ingredients in the sandwich and my add-ons are in the photo below.
Mmm… can’t wait to go again! (try to do so at least once a month).
Come back soon!
