A Protein Shake that is Berry-licious

Protein is an important building block in our bodies. It is literally part of every cell within us. This is why I try to have a good protein shake in my diet every day and especially after an hour at the gym.

Have you ever noticed how famished you feel after an hour at the gym? Once I get back home from the gym I try my best to hydrate first, shower, and then figure out what I’m going to eat. If I had breakfast before heading to the gym, then I normally opt for grabbing some protein powder and mixing it in with natural ingredients in my Nutribullet.

I pace myself and have my protein shake while I do some work around the house and take no less than 20 minutes to drink it down.

Consuming your meals slowly is a big first step if you are working on portion control. According to WebMD, it takes approximately 20 minutes from the time you start eating for your brain to send out signals of fullness.

I hope you like this protein shake and below is the protein powder I use for my smoothies, which I buy at Trader Joe’s.

I have tried different protein powders and this has been my favorite. It’s made from non-GMO soy and I have paid double for powders that don’t taste as good. If you do not have a TJ’s in your area, you can order it from Amazon for about $11 (at the time of this post).

What’s your favorite add-in to your protein shakes?

Berry Protein Shake

I am a huge fan of smoothies and shakes. Getting out of the gym, regardless of season, is hot and sweaty. Nothing revives my energy like a protein shake and this one is one of my favorites.

  1. This sounds good and super good for you. I’ll have to try it!

  2. I enjoy eating so much more than I enjoy protein shakes, I always just mix mine with water so I’m not adding any extra calories. But I ALWAYS am sure to have at least 2 a day since it’s just the easiest way to get protein as a vegetarian.
